ORLANDO, Fla. – San Diego State's Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) led the Internationals to a dominating 21-point win at the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Fla. The senior went 3-0 for the week as the Internationals retained the cup in a 40.5-19.5 win.
 
For his efforts, Anupansuebsai was the co-recipient of the Michael Carter Award, which is presented to the Arnold Palmer Cup participant that best represents the qualities and ideals of sportsmanship, integrity and upholding of the game. Anupansuebsai shared the award with John Pak.
 
Anupansuebsai teamed with Sophie Guo for a 2&1 victory in mixed fourball on Monday, them won 1-up with Sam Choi over Quade Cummings and Cooper Dossey in mixed foursome on Tuesday. Anupansuebsai ended his perfect week with a 3&2 victory over Garett Reband on Wednesday in singles as he was 3-under through 16 holes in the win.
 
Anupansuebsai became the first Aztec to be on the winning side for the Arnold Palmer Cup. Both Aaron Goldberg and Nahum Mendoza III, represented the United States in losses against Europe in 2008 and 2016, respectively.
 
A 2020 PING (third team) and Golfweek (honorable mention) All-American and 2020 Mountain West Golfer of the Year, Anupansuebsai led SDSU with a 69.59 scoring average for the 2019-20 season across 17 rounds. He also ranked second on the team in rounds in the 60s (6) and rounds below par (14). Anupansuebsai was one of three San Diego State golfers to win an event last season and one of two to be named a Mountain West Golfer of the Week.
 
The Arnold Palmer Cup was established in 1997 and originally featured the top eight collegiate golfers from the United States against Great Britain and Ireland. Following the 2002 tournament, the American opponent was enlarged to include all European players, while roster size for both sides was increased to 10 competitors in 2013. In 2018, the Arnold Palmer Cup was expanded once again to include United States men's and women's teams against collegiate golfers from around the world.
 
More than 60 former Arnold Palmer Cup players have claimed 200 victories on the PGA or European Tours, including U.S. Open Champions Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell, Lucas Glover and Webb Simpson, Open Champion Ben Curtis and PGA Champion Justin Thomas, among others.
