SAN DIEGO -- Professional sports are back and so are a number of former Aztecs.
The NBA returned on Thursday night and Kawhi Leonard has already played in two games for the Los Angeles Clippers, including a 126-103 win over New Orleans. Over the two games, Leonard averaged 26.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block per game. The Clippers remain the second seed in the Western Conference and return to action on Tuesday against Phoenix.
In MLB, Ty France has played in six games for the San Diego Padres so far, compiling a .263 batting average, while scoring three runs with two RBIs. Reigning World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg is expected to make his season debut soon for the Washington Nationals. Another former Aztec, Greg Allen of the Cleveland Indians, has appeared in five games thus far with six at-bats.
On the PGA tour, Xander Schauffele tied for sixth at the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., last weekend a 9-under-par 271. J.J. Spaun, meanwhile, tied for 48th at the Barracuda Championship in Truckee, Calif. Up next is the PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, beginning Thursday.
