SAN DIEGO – Coming off its record 11th Mountain West championship, both regular-season and tournament, in 2019, the San Diego State women's soccer program announced its 2020 schedule on Monday.

Among a total of 16 matchups, the Aztecs are scheduled to host eight home contests, including three non-conference home games in its first four outings. SDSU is scheduled to play a total of five non-conference and 11 Mountain West Conference games in 2020.

The season opens at home, on August 20, against Saint Mary's. The Gaels hold a 4-3 advantage in the all-time series, with each team earning its wins on its home field, however, it is just the second meeting since the 1997 season. The Gaels posted a 7-11-1 mark last season and were just 1-8-0 away from its home field in Moraga, California.

The season-opening two-game homestand concludes on August 27 with a match against the Pepperdine Waves.  The teams faced off last season in Malibu with Pepperdine earning a 2-0 decision.  It was the seventh time the Waves earned a victory in the 10 games of the all-time series.  Pepperdine finished last season with an 11-6-3 record and went 4-3-1 in games on its opponent's field.

The Aztecs first road game is just a short jaunt down Mission Valley to the University of San Diego for a matchup against the Toreros. In the 19-game all-time series, the Aztecs hold a 10-8-1 advantage, but are 4-7-0 in games contested on USD's home field. Last year the Tritons came to the Sports Deck and escaped with a 1-0 decision.  In 2019, they compiled an 8-9-1 overall record, which included a 6-1-0 mark at home.

The team's final home non-conference matchup is against Long Beach State on September 10.  The Beach struggled to a 4-12-1 record last year, were 1-4-0 in games played on its opponents' field, and went 2-5-1 in Big West action. In the all-time series, the Aztecs hold a 5-4-1 advantage, including a 3-1-1 record in game contested on San Diego State's home field. The teams were scheduled to play last season, but the game was canceled.

The non-conference scheduled wraps up in Sacramento with a game at Sacramento State on September 18. The Hornets compete in the Big Sky Conference where they posted a 5-0-4 record in league play and an 11-2-6 overall record last year.  Sacramento State was undefeated on its home pitch going 7-0-2 on Hornet Field.  The matchup will be the third in the all-time series with the Aztecs holding a 2-0-0 record.

The Mountain West portion of the 2020 schedule begins with a weekend on the road at Colorado State and Wyoming.

SDSU is at Colorado State on September 25 to face the Rams, a team it has never lost to in six games (5-0-1).  In games in Fort Collins, the Aztecs are 2-0-1 and have allowed just one goal.  In 2019, the Rams went 12-5-3 overall, including 7-3-1 in league play and finished in third place in the Mountain West standings, losing to Fresno State in the opening round of the MW tournament. Last season's meeting resulted in a 2-0 Aztec decision with Chloe Frisch picking up the game winner in the 42nd minute.

From Fort Collins, the team heads to Laramie, Wyo., to take on the Cowgirls on September 27.  The Aztecs have lost to Wyoming just four times in 23 meetings (17-4-2).  In games played in Laramie, SDSU leads in the series 5-4-2 but lost to the Cowgirls 3-2 last season at Wyoming.  For the 2019 season, the Cowgirls went 7-7-5 and posted a 4-5-2 mark in league action.

San Diego State returns to the Sports Deck for games against Boise State on October 2 and Utah State on October 4.

With an 8-3-0 record in league play, the Broncos shared the 2019 regular-season Mountain West title with the Aztecs and won the Tournament title with a 2-0 victory over SDSU in the championship game. BSU went 18-5-0 overall last season, including a 7-3-0 mark in road games. In the all-time series, San Diego State holds a 7-6-0 advantage, but in games contested in San Diego, the Aztecs trail 2-3-0.

In the all-time series, the Aztecs hold a 15-9-2 advantage, which includes a 6-5-1 lead in games played in Las Vegas. In its last six games at UNLV, San Diego State has gone 4-1-1.

The team's last regular-season road trip starts at Fresno State on October 16 and wraps up at San Jose State on October 18.

Fresno State posted a 9-7-4 record and went 5-4-2 in league action last year.  The teams met twice last season with the Aztecs winning in the regular season, 2-1 in overtime on an Elve goal in the 92nd minute, and in the Mountain West Tournament, 3-2 to advance to the championship game on midfielder Kiera Utush's 41st minute strike. In the all-time series, San Diego State holds a 13-3-2 advantage over the Bulldogs and are 3-3-1 in games played in Fresno.

The Aztecs and Spartans have played 16 times with SDSU leading 12-2-2 in the all-time series, which includes a 4-2-0 mark in San Jose. The teams played in San Diego last season with San Diego State earning a 3-0 victory and its league-leading 11th MW title.  Phoebe Leitch got the game winner in the 24th minute. The regular season finishes with the Aztecs hosting Air Force on October 23, Colorado College on October 25, and New Mexico on October 30.

San Diego State produced its biggest comeback of last season in a 5-4 win in Colorado Springs.  Trailing 3-1 after 29 minutes, SDSU scored four unanswered goals.  In the 79th minute, the final and eventual game-winning goal came off the boot of Elve, who had two tallies and an assist in the match. SDSU has dominated the all-time series with a 22-1-1 record, including an 11-0-1 mark in games on the Aztecs home field.  Air Force went 10-7-1 last season and was 5-6-0 in Mountain West play.

For the second straight year, the regular season wraps up against New Mexico, which handed the Aztecs its worst loss of the 2019 season, a 6-0 drubbing in Albuquerque. The Lobos went 11-8-1 overall, including 6-4-1 in conference play. San Diego State leads the all-time series 13-9-7, which includes a 6-4-1 mark in games played in San Diego.

A schedule of games which will be streamed on www.goaztecs.com will be announced at a later date.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the schedule is subject to change and there will be no Mountain West Tournament in 2020.  The regular-season champion will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, if it is contested.
