LA JOLLA, Calif. – The San Diego State tandem of Rafael Gonzalez Almazan and Ignacio Martinez were eliminated from the main draw of the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships on Saturday after falling in the quarterfinal round at La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.

Gonzalez Almazan and Martinez began the day with a straight-set victory in the round of 16 over the UC Irvine duo of Ali Amiri and Antoine Barthe, 6-3, 6-4, but were unable to advance in the bracket after dropping a tough 6-4, 6-4 decision to California's seventh-seeded pairing of Ben Draper and Bjorn Hoffmann.

Meanwhile, the Aztecs' remaining duo of Arnaud Restifo and Fabian Roensdorf captured the opening set in the fourth round of the consolation draw by a 6-4 count against unattached Garrett Kurtz and Ethan Schiffman but retired after trailing 5-4 in the second.

San Diego State resumes its spring schedule on Monday, March 16 when it plays host to No. 15 Harvard at Aztec Tennis Center, starting at 2 p.m. PT.
