COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State's Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) has been named the Tri-Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Friday. It is the first career MW player of the week award for the junior.
Anupansuebsai finished in a seven-way tie for fifth place at 3-under-par 213 at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic on Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. Anupansuebsai fired rounds of 72, 70 and 71 to help the Aztecs tie with No. 3 Arizona State in second place in the 19-team tournament.
SDSU finished at 4-under 860, one shot better than No. 5 Texas A&M (-3) and two shots clear of California (-2). Tennessee won the event at 8-under 856.
Anupansuebsai shared the award with Colorado State's Davis Bryant and AJ Ott, who also tied for fifth in the event. The Rams finished seventh as a team.
