Ramos & Kalmer Receive All-Conference Honors

SAN DIEGO – Sophia Ramos of the Aztec women's basketball team was named to the Mountain West All-Conference Team, the conference office announced Sunday morning. Taylor Kalmer was an honorable mention selection. This is the first time under head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson the Aztecs have had two players receive all-conference recognition.

Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) was one of two players in the conference to rank in the top ten in points, rebounds and assists. She finished fourth in scoring (15.4), sixth in assists (3.8) and ninth in rebounding (7.2) in conference play. She also finished with the second-best free throw percentage (.851) and second most made free throws (80).

Ramos averaged 37.4 minutes per game, the second most in the conference, and scored in double-digits in 15 of the 18 Mountain West games and had three games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Ramos was one of four players to win at least two Mountain West Player of the Week awards.

Kalmer (Chandler, Ariz.) was third in the conference in scoring (16.5) in Mountain West games and scored in double-digits in every conference game and in 24 consecutive games, the longest streak by an Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present).

Playing a remarkable 39.2 minutes per game during conference, she played 40 or more minutes seven times. Kalmer also averaged 4.1 rebounds and dished out 3.1 assists per game while shooting 35 percent from three and 79 percent from the line (fifth in the MW). She had 20 or more points five times and had four games with at least 15 points and five assists.

The Aztecs begin the Mountain West Championships Sunday evening as the No. 6 seed, facing the No. 11 seed, Utah State, at 7 p.m. PT.
