SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced the signing of an offer of grant-in-aid by Regina Pitts Thursday. Pitts previously competed at Seton Hall University and will join the Aztecs as a junior for the upcoming fall season.

Pitts had a very successful freshman season with the Pirates where she was named to the All-Big East Second Team. In her first collegiate season, Pitts primarily played as the No. 2 singles and as a part of the program's No .1 doubles tandem, helping Seton Hall collect their first win in 15 years over St. John's. Before her time in South Orange, N.J., the Los Angeles, Calif. native was ranked No. 35 nationally by Tennis Recruiting and earned the honor of a five-star recruit rating from the organization.

"We are so excited to welcome Regina to the Aztec Tennis Family," noted Mattera. "She was one of the best junior players in the country and has had tremendous success in her three semesters of division one tennis at Seton Hall—with this experience and her incredible work ethic, amazing play on the court, and fight to be the best she can be, I'm sure she is going to elevate San Diego State tennis the minute she steps on The Mesa."

SDSU hits the road for the first time in the spring 2020 season when it travels to Long Beach, Calif. Saturday, Feb. 8 to take on Long Beach State. Doubles play is set to begin at 1 p.m.
