SAN DIEGO – With its seventh regular-season Mountain West crown in hand and the conference tournament a little more than a week and a half away, San Diego State Athletics has released information regarding the 2020 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and ticket and hospitality availability for first and second round games.
Although there are eight potential first- and second-round sites, the likely destination for No. 4 San Diego State is to open NCAA tournament play at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. First round games at that site are Friday, March 20 with the winners advancing to the second round on Sunday, March 22 at the same location.
The official unveiling of the NCAA tournament bracket with game locations will be announced on Sunday, March 15.
"We appreciate the tremendous support from our fans this season", SDSU athletics director John David Wicker said. "Similar to when Duke or North Carolina play NCAA tournament games in their home state or Kansas plays NCAA tournament games in Kansas City, the limited number of tickets the University receives from the NCAA will fall far short of fulfilling the requests by our passionate fan base. We want to make sure every Aztec fan is aware of alternate options to purchase tickets and join San Diego State in the postseason."
For first- and second- round games, the NCAA allots a total of 400 tickets to each participating school. The athletic department will fulfill requests for tickets based on the Aztec Club Priority Point Ranking. However, with greatly increased demand and a limited number of tickets for each member institution, it is unlikely that SDSU Athletics' allotment will be available for donors and season ticket holders, outside of the highest giving levels.
Aztec fans interested in attending games are encouraged to purchase tickets and explore hospitality options through NCAA/PrimeSport.
Should the No. 4-ranked Aztecs advance to the Regional Round (Sweet 16 and Elite Eight), the ticket allotment for competing schools will increase to 1,000 and SDSU Athletics will fulfill ticket requests based on Aztec Club Priority Point Ranking.
San Diego State (26-0, 15-0 Mountain West) is ranked No. 4 in both the AP Top-25 and Coaches Polls for the fifth straight week. The Aztecs are No. 1 in the NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) and have the No. 1 seed in the Mountain West Men's Basketball Championship, which runs March 4-7 in Las Vegas.
