Sharretts Named MPSF Defensive Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State lacrosse redshirt senior goalkeeper Katy Sharretts was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 16, the league office announced Monday.
 
In the Aztecs' season opener, Sharretts tabbed 13 saves on 41 shots faced, earning a .464 save percentage. The Bel Air, Md. native added seven ground balls and one caused turnover in her impressive season debut.  The netminder's performance added to her already impressive career save total,  now at 374, ranking second in the SDSU record books and just 32 saves away from the school record. In addition, seven ground balls has been achieved only one other time in the MPSF since 2017.
 
SDSU plays at home for the first time in the regular season Thursday when it welcomes Arizona State to Aztec Lacrosse Field. The matchup between the Aztecs and the Sun Devils is set to start at 1 p.m. with free posters available for all fans in attendance. Admission is free to the general public.
