Men's Tennis Signs Judson Blair to NLI

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State men's tennis head coach Gene Carswell has proudly announced the signing of Judson Blair to a National Letter of Intent.

A prep senior at Sprague High School in Salem, Oregon, Blair will be eligible to compete for the Aztecs beginning with the 2020-21 campaign.

"We are very excited to welcome Judson to the Aztec family," Carswell said. "He is one of the top players emerging in the West with a great work ethic and natural leadership abilities. His bright star is on the rise and we look forward to his arrival on campus next fall."

Blair was tabbed a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net and is ranked fourth in the Pacific Northwest by the website. In addition, he currently owns a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of 12 and finds himself at No. 29 in the latest USTA national standings.

Last month, Blair finished third in singles play at the USTA Boys' 18 National Indoor Championships in Overland Park, Kansas, after winning the USTA National Level Three Tournament held Sept. 21-23 in Lakewood, California.

Blair, who was named the Mid-Valley Player of the Year on two occasions by the Salem Statesman Journal, also advanced to the title match of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) 6A Boys Singles Championships last spring after entering as the tournament's No. 2 seed.

Blair, who plans to major in business at SDSU, additionally drew interest from Iowa, Michigan State, Alabama, Chattanooga and Lipscomb during the recruiting process.

San Diego State opens its spring dual-match schedule on Sunday, Jan. 12, when it plays host to Oklahoma State at Aztec Tennis Center. First serve is set for 10:30 a.m. PT. The following weekend, SDSU will battle UC San Diego off campus at the Santaluz Club on Saturday, Jan. 18, starting at noon.
