COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The San Diego State softball team received the most first-place votes and is picked to finish second in the Mountain West in a preseason poll voted on by the league's nine head coaches, the conference announced Wednesday. The Aztecs have won a MW-record seven regular-season titles.
SDSU totaled 50 points in the preseason poll, trailing San José State's 53 points and two first-place votes. Colorado State and UNLV both tied for third with 45 points and a first-place vote apiece, while Fresno State (44) and Boise State (41) were picked fifth and sixth, respectively, each with the other first-place votes. In all, 12 points separated the top six spots in the poll. Nevada (23), Utah State (15) and New Mexico (8) rounded out the poll.

SDSU, which welcomes the fourth-best transfer recruiting class in the country, according to Softball America, begins its 2020 season at Jacksonville's River City Leadoff Tournament from Feb. 6-8 in Jacksonville, Fla. San Diego State opens with host Jacksonville on Thursday, and plays doubleheaders against Villanova and Nicholls on both Friday and Saturday.
