SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's David Hough was named MW Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his key role in the Aztecs' 6-1 dual-match victory over UC San Diego on Jan. 18.

With his award, the SDSU senior garnered the first conference weekly accolade of the season and the first of his career.

Hough was a double winner last Saturday, helping the Aztecs defeat the Tritons for the ninth straight time dating back to 1989.

In doubles competition, the Traralgon, Australia, native provided the clinching point after teaming with Ignacio Martinez for a 6-4 victory over Sahm Irvine and Phillip Lan at the No. 3 position.

Later in singles, Hough was the first player off the court after defeating Marc Isaia, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot, as the Scarlet and Black took five of six matches in straight sets.

With his decision, Hough snapped a four-match losing streak, emerging victorious in his first career start at No. 3 on SDSU's singles ladder.

In addition, he shares the team lead with eight wins on the year, which also ties a personal single-season high.

Hough and the Aztecs resume their spring schedule on Saturday, Jan. 25, when they hit the road to face 10th-ranked UCLA as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend, starting at noon PT. SDSU will then remain at Los Angeles Tennis Center to battle either UCF or San Diego on Sunday, Jan. 26. A link to live scoring will be available for both matches on GoAztecs.com.
