SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State baseball team, under sixth-year head coach Mark Martinez, will conduct its annual Alumni Game on Sunday, Jan 26, starting at 2 p.m. inside Tony Gwynn Stadium.

Admission to the contest is free and will give fans an early glimpse of this year's Aztec team, which received a No. 31 preseason ranking by Collegiate Baseball magazine last month.

Former SDSU infielder Anthony Johnson, a four-year letterwinner from 1987-90 who received all-conference and all-region honors in his final season on The Mesa, will return to coach the alumni squad composed of recent graduates along with a sprinkling of players from as far back as the early 2000s.

Prior to the contest, the current Aztecs will hold batting practice at 11:30 a.m., while the alumni will arrive on the scene at noon, followed by their pre-game hitting at 12:30 p.m.

Former SDSU players wishing to participate in the game should contact Aztec volunteer assistant coach Danny Sheehan at 619-594-6889 or via email at dsheehan@sdsu.edu.

San Diego State begins its 2020 campaign on Friday, Feb. 14, when it takes on Virginia Tech in the Brittain Resorts Baseball at the Beach tournament in Conway, South Carolina. The Aztecs will also battle Coastal Carolina (Feb. 15) and UNC Greensboro (Feb. 16) at the event.

SDSU's regular-season home opener is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 18 vs. Cal State Fullerton at 6 p.m.
