Aztecs Play at SJSU Saturday Afternoon

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State (4-5, 1-0) heads to San Jose State (6-3, 1-0) for their first Mountain West road game of the season Saturday. The game will be streamed on the MW Network and there will also be an audio-only broadcast with Chris Ello on the call.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• The Aztecs snapped a three game losing streak with a 59-49 win over Colorado St. in their MW opener Wednesday evening.
• Téa Adams, Sophia Ramos and Taylor Kalmer all tied for the team-lead with 15 points each.
• SDSU scored 28 points in the first quarter to open a 16-point lead and never trailed in the game.
• Téa Adams has made 11 three-pointers through nine games this season. She made 10 threes in 58 career games entering the season.
• SDSU leads the Mountain West with 4.1 blocks per game.
• The Aztecs are averaging just 13.9 personal fouls this season, the 16th best in the nation.
• SDSU is holding their opponents to 25.0 percent from three-point territory, second best in the conference.
• The Aztecs are averaging just 13.2 turnovers per game, 38th in the nation.

Noting the Colorado State Game (W, 59-49, 12-4-19)
• The Aztecs scored 28 points in their first quarter, easily topping their previous season-high of 17 vs. Towson.
•  The Aztecs scored 10 of their 18 field goals in the first quarter.
• SDSU followed up their 28 point first quarter with four points in the second and 11 points in the third, both of which were season-lows.
• The Aztecs were 18-for-21 from the free throw line, a new season-high for single-game percentage (.857).
• The Rams were 15-for-49 from the field, a new season-low for a SDSU opponent in field goal makes and attempts.
• SDSU committed a season-high 20 fouls.
• CSU had 31 rebounds, a new season-low for a SDSU opponent.
• SDSU held the Rams to 3-for-17 (.176) shooting from three. CSU entered the game shooting 39 percent from deep and averaged 8.8 made three-pointers per game
• Monique Terry tied her career-high in assists (3) and rebounds (5). She has had five rebounds in two of the last three games.
• Defensive stopper Kennedi Villa tied her career-high with five points and made her first career three-pointer.
• Téa Adams made her 11th three-pointer of the year. She made a combined 10 three-pointers in her first two years at SDSU.
• Téa Adams made eight free throws, the most in a game for an Aztec this season.
• Taylor Kalmer set a new career-high with 15 field goal attempts and with five made free-throws.
• The Aztecs are now 4-0 when winning the rebounding battle and 0-5 when being outrebounded.
 
Opponent Notebook (San Jose State)
• The Spartans are 6-3 and 1-0 in conference play.
• They have already matched their win total from last year when they went 6-24.
• They are 4-0 at home on the year.
• They lead the conference in scoring (79.8), three-point percentage (.381), free throw percentage (.796) and steals per game (11.3).
• Ayzhiana Basallo is sixth in the nation in scoring (22.9) and 14th in assists per game (6.1). She also leads the nation in free throws made (65).
• Head coach Jamie Craighead (7th season) led the Spartans to setting a new program record for points scored in a season in 2014-15.
 
Series History
• San Diego State leads the all-time series 23-9.
• Saturday will be the only meeting between SJSU and SDSU this season, marking the first year with just one regular season game since the 2014-15 campaign.
• The Aztecs are 9-4 when playing at SJSU.
• The Aztecs have won three of the last four meetings.
• Their first meeting was December 3, 1977, a 89-83 SDSU win.
