COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo – Sophia Ramos of the Aztec women's basketball team was named the Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. Ramos helped SDSU win two road games while averaging 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) scored a career-high 30 points at California Baptist last Thursday on 9-14 shooting. She became the first Aztec to score 30 or more points in nearly two years (McKynzie Fort) and the first SDSU 30-point scorer to shoot 64 percent or better since Paris Johnson did it in 2008.
Ramos was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free line on the week and her 13 rebounds tied for the team lead.
Ramos is the first Aztec to win MW Player of the Week honors since McKynzie Fort did so December 4, 2017.
The Aztecs (6-7) are back in action Saturday when they host CSUN at 12:30 p.m.
