SCENE SETTER (through games of Saturday, Dec. 7)
* San Diego State extends its school-record bowl streak to 10 seasons when the Aztecs face Central Michigan in the 2019 New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 21 in Albuquerque, N.M.
* SDSU's active consecutive streak of 10 straight bowl games is tied for the 11th-longest streak nationally. San Diego State is the only team in the state of California - college or pro - to play in the postseason each of the last 10 years.
* SDSU is one of 13 schools and one of two Group of 5 schools in the nation to play in a bowl game each of the last 10 seasons.
* Since the start of the 2015 campaign, San Diego State is 48-18 record with a 72.7 percent winning percentage (13th best in the nation) and the Aztecs are 10th in winning percentage nationally since Oct. 3, 2015.
* San Diego State ranks third in turnover margin this season (+1.25) and leads the nation in the category since the start of the 2014 campaign (+0.75).
* SDSU is looking to join elite company. With a win, the Aztecs would post their fourth double-digit victory season in the last five years. Currently, nine schools have a spot on that list with San Diego State and Michigan looking to join the group with a bowl victory.
* Head coach Rocky Long, the all-time winningest coach in Mountain West history, has guided San Diego State to a bowl game in each of his first nine seasons as head coach. He is one only four active coaches to lead their current team to a bowl game in each of his last nine seasons (also: Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State), Nick Saban (Alabama) and Dabo Swinney (Clemson).
* Long is one of only five coaches to lead his current team to a bowl game in each of his last nine seasons. That list includes all above plus James Franklin (Vanderbilt, Penn State).
* SDSU's defense ranks among the national leaders in nearly every statistical category. Among its highest rankings are: 2nd in rushing defense (72.3), 2nd in rushing yards allowed per carry (2.6),  T-2nd in TD allowed (18), 4th in scoring defense (12.8), T-4th in rushing touchdowns allowed (7), T-4th in passing touchdowns allowed (10), 5th fewest plays of 20+ yards allowed (36), 5th in first downs allowed (190), 5th in total defense (288.6), 16th in passing efficiency rating (113.4) and 17th in passing yards per attempt (6.21).
* SDSU's special teams are ranked 7th nationally by ESPN and 8th by SportsSource Analytics, and have two touchdowns this season.
* San Diego State placed 14 student-athletes on the Mountain West all-conference team, including a league-high five that received first-team honors. SDSU senior linebacker Kyahva Tezino, senior cornerback Luq Barcoo, senior defensive end Myles Cheatum and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Cameron Thomas and junior center Keith Ismael all received first-tem recognition.
* Senior CB Luq Barcoo was a second-team Walter Camp All-American. He ranks second nationally in interceptions (8).
