WAITING FOR A BOWL BID
* After finishing its regular season with at least nine wins for the fourth time in the last five years, San Diego State awaits a bowl bid, which will be announced on Sunday (Dec. 8).
* SDSU has played in a school-record nine consecutive bowl games (including all eight seasons under Rocky Long) and is bowl eligible for a 10th straight season. 
* San Diego State is one of only 14 schools nationally to advance to a bowl game each of the last nine seasons (does not include 2019).
* The Aztecs have clinched a 10th consecutive winning season, which is the second-longest streak in program history and the longest since a 17-year stretch from 1961-77.
* Since the start of the 2010 season, SDSU's winning percentage (.679) is 15th nationally and is second in the state of California, trailing only Stanford (.737).

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
* The Aztecs are tied for the 22nd-most wins in the country (9) and tied for the 23rd-best winning percentage (.750).
* SDSU is tied for the second-most road wins in FBS (5) with the likes of Baylor, Clemson, LSU and Ohio State, among others.
* San Diego State has one of the nation's top defenses and is currently fifth in scoring defense (12.8) and seventh in total defense (288.6). The Aztecs are also third in rush defense (72.3) and 17th in pass efficiency defense (113.4).
* SDSU special teams are ranked seventh nationally by ESPN and have two touchdowns this season.

LATE NIGHT TIDBITS FROM SATURDAY'S 13-3 WIN OVER BRIGHAM YOUNG
* San Diego State improved to 9-3 on the season.
* The Aztecs have at least nine wins in four of the past five years, and five times in the Rocky Long era (since 2011).
* SDSU snapped a six-game losing streak to Brigham Young (previous win was Oct. 1, 2005).
* The Aztecs finished 4-2 at home on the season and now have six straight winning seasons at home. SDSU hasn't had a losing home season since going 2-4 in 2008.
* San Diego State won on Senior Night for the eighth time in 10 seasons (exceptions were 2018 and 2016).
* The Aztecs snapped Brigham Young's five-game winning streak, its longest since the 2008 campaign. 
* SDSU has gone 26 straight quarters without allowing more than one score. The last time San Diego State allowed multiple scores in a quarter was the second quarter vs. Wyoming on Oct. 12. The Aztecs have allowed just 83 points over the last 26 quarters (3.2 points per quarter).
* SDSU improved to 32-2 over its last 34 games when owning a turnover advantage. 
* San Diego State held Brigham Young to three points, its fewest in a game since being shut out at No. 17 LSU on Sept. 2, 2017 and the fewest against a Group of 5 opponent since being shut out against Utah (was in the Mountain West at the time) on Sept. 22, 2003. The Cougars came into tonight averaging 30.3 points per game, including 39.8 points per game over their five-game win streak.
* Carson Baker became just the second quarterback in the Aztecs' Division I history (since 1969) to win in his starting debut having never previously thrown a collegiate pass (also Joe Davis vs. Arkansas State on Sept. 12, 1976).
* Baker became the first SDSU quarterback to start in a game having never previously thrown a pass since Ryan Lindley started on Aug. 30, 2008 vs. Cal Poly.
* Baker became the fourth straight San Diego State quarterback to win in his starting debut, joining Maxwell Smith (Aug. 30, 2015 vs. San Diego), Christian Chapman (Dec. 5, 2015 vs. Air Force in the Mountain West Championship game) and Ryan Agnew (Sept. 15, 2018 vs. No. 23/25 Arizona State).
* Aztec quarterbacks were 1-13 in the previous 14 debuts prior to this stretch.

FROM THE FILM ROOM (through games of Nov. 30)
* QB Carson Baker played the first snaps of his career in his first career start vs Brigham Young. Baker earned an overall grade of 74.2 which ranked sixth among MW QBs this week. Baker threw for 6.9 yards per attempt while completing 76.0 percent of his attempts. Baker completed three of his five deep pass attempts aimed 20-plus yards past the line of scrimmage for 90 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs and a passer rating of 277.2, which ranked second among MW QBs this week. With one spike and one dropped pass in the game, Baker's adjusted completion percentage of 83.3 ranked first among MW QBs in week 14 (FBS pos rank: 12). When getting rid of the ball quickly, Baker was nearly unstoppable. On attempts coming in 2.5 seconds or less, Baker completed 13 of 14 attempts (92.9 pct.) to go with 1 TD, 0 INTs and a NFL passer rating of 123.8. On all other attempts, Baker had a NFL passer rating of 77.1. 
* The offensive line was nearly perfect in pass protection this week. As a unit, they allowed no sacks, no QB hits and just one hurry on 32 pass plays (pressure rate allowed: 3.1%). There were two sacks charged to the offense vs. BYU but neither was on a member of the offensive line. QB Carson Baker (1) and RB Chase Jasmin (1) gave up a sack apiece. San Diego State's offensive line had a pass block efficiency of 98.4 this week which ranked first in the MW (FBS rank: 3). The offensive tackles Kyle Spalding and Zachary Thomas combined to allow no pressures of any kind vs BYU. After allowing one sack and two QB hits during the first month of the season (weeks 1-4), Spalding has not given up a sack or QB hit in his last seven games played. Thomas has surrendered just four hurries this season on 276 pass block with no sacks and no QB hits allowed. His pass block efficiency figure of 99.3 ranks first among MW OTs this season. 
* WR Jesse Matthews saw a team-high eight targets vs BYU. Matthews recorded four receptions for 78 yards with a long of 33 yards. Four of Matthews' six receptions this week went for first downs. On the season, Matthews has been one of the most productive WRs in the MW when on the field. His overall grade of 75.1 ranks seventh in the conference at his position. Matthews has yet to drop a pass all season. His 45 catchable targets without a drop are more than any other MW WR has in 2019. Matthews' drop grade this year of 91.6 ranks first in the MW among WRs and third in FBS.
* CB Luq Barcoo was targeted a season-high 12 times against BYU and allowed just four receptions. While Barcoo allowed 68 yards, he allowed just 33.3 percent of all targets to be caught while recording a stunning four pass breakups to go with a passer rating when targeted of 80.9. Over the last three weeks, Barcoo hasn't allowed a touchdown, while recording three INTs and four pass deflections on 24 targets (six total receptions allowed). On the season, Barcoo's overall grade of 83.2 ranks first in the MW among CBs.
* S Trenton Thompson had a big and in holding BYU to just three points. Thompson didn't start, but he played 73 of his team's 84 defensive snaps (86.9 percent). Thompson was targeted seven times and allowed four receptions for just 28 yards. On four receptions in his coverage, Thompson allowed a total of six yards AFTER the catch. On 10 receptions in his coverage this season, Thompson has given up just 17 yards AFTER the catch. 
* S Dwayne Johnson Jr. was targeted four times and gave up just three receptions for nine yards, while recording an INT and a passer rating when targeted of 43.9. Johnson is the top graded safety in the MW with an 89.9 overall grade (FBS pos rank: 6).
