SAN DIEGO - San Diego State, which owned the Mountain West's top goal scoring offense and one of its top defenses, had four players named to the All-MW first and second teams and an additional player voted to the all-newcomer squad, the league announced this afternoon.  The five honorees are the most for the program since nine members of the 2015 team were selected to receive all-league recognition.

Junior midfielder Chloe Frisch earned first-team All-Mountain West honors, classmate and defender Sarah Broacha, sophomore midfielder Laura Fuentes and freshman striker Rachelle Elve were second-team selections.  Graduate transfer Brooke Lisowski, the team's keeper, and Elve made the aforementioned All-Newcomer Team.

Frisch completed the regular season with career-highs in every offensive category.  She led the team with eight assists, 18 points, 59 shots, 22 shots on goal and two game winners.  In addition, the Solana Beach native raked second in goals for the Aztecs.  In Mountain West action, which the voting is based on, Frisch led the league in assists and was third in shots (44), shots on goal (19) and points (16). She had the game winner in the team's 2-0 victory against Colorado State. This marks the second yearly award for Frisch, who was selected as a member of the 2017 MW All-Newcomer Team.

Broacha, a center defender, controlled the action in front of the goal and the entire back line as the only defender to start in each of the team's 18 contests and among field players she ranked second on the team in minutes (1,603).  The Foothills High School in Pleasanton, Calif., product, produced four shots on the season and had the assist in the team's 1-0 victory at Utah State, which sparked a late season five-game winning streak.  This is Broacha's first All-Mountain West honor.

Fuentes, who was named the conference's 2018 Newcomer of the Year, earns her second second-team award in as many seasons.  The Newark, Calif., native finished the conference schedule ranked sixth in the league with two game winners, which tied for second on the team.  In addition, her squad rankings were third in goals (4), assists (2) and points (10).  She was fourth in shots (16) and seventh in shots on goal (6).  Half of Fuentes' goals were game winners; in a 1-0 victory at Utah State and the team's 3-2 win at Colorado College, and for good measure she was 1-for-1 in penalty kicks.

Elve exploded once league action rolled around.  She finished conference play ranked second in goals (6), third in game winners (3) and points (6) and fourth in assists (4). For the season she led the team in goals and game-winners, was second in assists, points, and shots (22) and third in shots on goal (9).  She scored a goal two out of every three shots she took on the season.  The Huntington Beach, Calif., native's game winners all came in conference play; in the 4-1 win over Nevada, at Air Force, in a 5-4 result in which she scored twice, and in overtime against Fresno State. Elve was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20 and earned All-Newcomer Team honors this season.

Lisowksi, a graduate transfer from California, was a two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week, just one of two players to earn the honor twice this season.  The Los Gatos, Calif., native played every minute in goal this year (1641:00) with a 1.76 goals against average, a .667 save percentage allowing 32 goals while making 64 saves.  She had a 9-8-1 record with five shutouts, but in MW play she was 8-3 with four clean sheets.  She led the league in shutouts per game (.364) and was ninth in saves per game (3.45).  Her clean sheets in MW play came against Colorado State, UNLV, at Utah State and versus San Jose State.

The five and their San Diego State teammates are preparing for the Mountain West Championship, which is set to begin on Tuesday with quarterfinal games. The Aztecs, however, earned a bye to the semifinals as a result of their tie for the league regular-season championship and will face the winner of third-seeded Colorado State and sixth-seeded Fresno State (Tuesday, 11 a.m. MT). SDSU's semifinal game is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. MT at Boise State's Boas Soccer Complex. The contest will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network and links to the stream and live stats will be available through the team's schedule page at www.goaztecs.com.
