Volleyball Nets Three All-Mountain West Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State volleyball players Camryn Machado, Tamia Reeves and Hannah Turnlund earned all-Mountain West honors in a vote of the league's 11 head coaches, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.

With their awards, the Aztec trio garnered all-MW accolades for the first time in their respective careers.

This season's 18-member all-conference team consisted of nine outside/opposite hitters, five middle blockers, two liberos/defensive specialists and two setters. SDSU's three honorees marked the third-most all-conference selections behind league champion Colorado State and runner-up Wyoming, which sported four apiece.

Below are the three A­ztec selections at a glance:

#7 Hannah Turnlund; Sr.; OH; Morgan Hill, Calif. (Presentation HS)
> Was one of the Aztecs' chief offensive weapons this year, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Mountain West with team-highs of 3.45 kills and 3.68 points per set for all matches.
> Posted double-digit kills in 20 of 29 matches this season, including 13 in MW play.
> Ranked second on the team with seven double-doubles (kills-digs) for the year.
> Finished second on the squad with 2.08 digs per set in all matches.
> Completed a double-double with a career-high 24 kills to go with 16 digs against Florida Gulf Coast (Aug. 31), earning a spot on the all-tournament team at the FGCU Homewood Suites Fort Myers Classic.
> Logged the third-best kill total of her career with 21 put-aways vs. Boise State (Oct. 24).
> Finished with 19 kills, 13 digs and three block assists to key SDSU's win over San Jose State (Sept. 26).
> Also compiled 19 kills at Fresno State (Oct. 14), which marked the third-highest total in a three-set MW match this year. 
> Launched 16 kills and tied her career-high with 21 digs in the Aztecs' thrilling victory at UNLV on Nov. 2, which snapped the Rebels' nine-match winning streak.
> Surpassed 1,000 kills for her career with 11 put-aways at Air Force (Oct. 19), finishing with 1,114 kills in an Aztec uniform.
> Moved into 10th place in SDSU program history with 3,148 career attack attempts.
 
#18 Tamia Reeves; Sr.; MB; Carrollton, Texas (Hebron HS)
> Ranked second in the Mountain West with a .404 hitting percentage on the year, which marks the second-best single-season clip in program history behind Jennifer Hamilton (.412, 1995).
> Led the team with 101 blocks for the year (0.95/set), including 14 solo stuffs.
> Was third on the team with 207 kills for the year (1.95/set) at the middle blocker position.
> Compiled five or more blocks in 12 matches, including nine in MW play.
> Totaled eight blocks, including two solo stops vs. Boise State (Oct. 24), to equal her career high.
> Posted a hitting percentage of .500 or greater in 10 overall matches, including seven in MW action.
> Hit .727 (9-1-11) in the season finale at Boise State (Nov. 23), which is marked the highest clip in the conference this year and represented the second-best total of her career.
> Received MW Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Oct. 7 after posting a .667 hitting percentage in home matches against UNLV and New Mexico, knocking down 19 kills with just one error in 27 attempts.
> Committed one attack error or less in 19 of 29 matches this year, including eight with zero.

> Surpassed the 40-assist plateau 16 times this year and has logged 50 or more assists on seven occasions.
> Led the team with 14 double-doubles (assists-digs), including seven vs. MW foes this season.
> Produced the third-best assist total in a five-set conference match with 56 helpers against San José State (Sept. 26), adding 16 digs to lift the Aztecs to a victory.
> Topped the squad with16 service aces, including a career-high three in a home sweep of Utah State (Oct. 26).
> Matched her career-best with four kills in a win over Fresno State (Nov. 12).
> Ranked second on the team for all matches with 2.54 digs per set.
> With her setting skills, SDSU boasted six players who hovered near the 2.00 mark or better in kills-per-set average during the season.
> Earned MW Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 2 after posting a trio of all-round efforts at the FGCU Homewood Suites Fort Myers Classic, where she also landed a spot on the all-tournament team.
> Averaged 11.55 assists and 3.82 digs in three matches at the event, highlighted by a 20-dig performance vs. host Florida Gulf Coast to set a career high.
 
San Diego State just completed the 2019 campaign with a 15-14 overall record, which marked the program's sixth winning season in the last nine years. The Aztecs also finished fifth in the conference standings with an 8-10 mark in league play after they were picked eighth in the preseason MW Coaches Poll.
