SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State football team is ranked 25th in the Amway Coaches Poll and receiving votes in the AP Top 25 Poll.
In the coaches poll, the Aztecs (8-2, 5-2 MW) have 47 points, up from 32 a week ago, after downing Fresno State, 17-7, on Friday night for The Old Oil Can trophy. The 47 points have SDSU just in the top 25, one point ahead of Virginia Tech (46 points). Texas A&M is 24th with 101 points.
In the AP poll, San Diego State has the same amount of points (7) as it did the previous week after being ranked 24th on Nov. 3 and 25th on Oct. 27. Ahead of the Aztecs in the receiving votes group are Indiana (47), Iowa State (31), Virginia (23), Navy (13), Air Force (12) and Pittsburgh (9). SDSU has more votes than USC (6), Washington (6), Texas (4), Illinois (1) and North Dakota State (1).
San Diego State hits the road for the final time of the regular season Saturday at Hawai'i for a 6 p.m. HT (8 p.m. PT) start. An Aztec win will put SDSU in the Mountain West Championship game on Dec. 7.
