SAN DIEGOBrian Dutcher, San Diego State head men's basketball coach, announced the signing of Che Evans, Lamont Butler  and Keith Dinwiddie, Jr., to National Letters of Intent.  The three will compete for the Aztecs beginning in the 2020-21 season.

"This recruiting class has great balance," Dutcher said. "We've got three players who complement one another and at some point, in the future, will all be on the floor together.  We're excited to get them on campus and continue their development. The nice thing about next year is we will have a very veteran team coming back, so a lot of our perimeter spots will be occupied by seniors.  These young men will carve minutes out next year, but in their second year, we expect them to be poised to make major impacts on our program."

Evans is a 6-7, 195-pound forward out of Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia, Pa.  In 2018-19, while a member of Dulaney High School in Baltimore, Md., he averaged 20.5 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game and led the team to the Class 4A North Region championship.  Evans is ranked the No. 38 small forward in the nation in 2020 according to 247Sports.com and a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com & Scout.com.  In signing with San Diego State, Evans declined offers from Texas Tech, Arkansas, TCU, Oregon State, Ole Miss, Boise State and UNLV, among others.

"Che is a tremendous offensive talent who can score from all three levels.  He is strong; can post up, take people off the dribble and is a great three-point shooter.  Plus, he is a proven defender and is going to be a big piece to our Aztec future." – head men's basketball coach Brian Dutcher

Butler is a 6-0, 165-pound point guard out of Poly High School in Riverside, Calif.  Last year he led his team to a 21-9 record, a spot in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division I Playoffs and earned first-team All-Ivy League honors.  He is a four-star rated player according to ESPN and is a three-star player according to Rivals.com and 247Sports.com.  In choosing San Diego State, Butler turned down interest from Saint Mary's, Stanford, Gonzaga, Washington, Colorado, Boise State and San Diego.

"Lamont is the ultimate teammate. He's a pass first point guard who values winning above all else and will do whatever it takes to help the Aztecs be successful in the future." – head men's basketball coach Brian Dutcher

Dinwiddie, a 6-2, 175-pound guard out of Fairfax Senior High School in Los Angeles, Calif.  In 2018-19 he led his team to a 27-2 record and won the Los Angeles City Section Open Division championship.  The team finished the year ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 22 in the nation.  In accepting San Diego State's scholarship offer he declined offers from Washington State, TCU and UC Santa Barbara, among others.

"Keith is a prolific scorer who can create his own shot at any time.  He has tremendous range, but his strength also allows him to get to the basket and finish through contact.  He was highly recruited, and we are very fortunate he chose to become a member of the San Diego State family." – head men's basketball coach Brian Dutcher

San Diego State looks to move to 4-0 on the season when it heads down Mission Valley to play at San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 20.  Tip off in Jenny Craig Pavilion is scheduled for 8 p.m.  The Aztecs' next home game is Friday, Nov. 22 against LIU with tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
