SAN DIEGO --While it is a busy time for current San Diego State teams, some former Aztec athletes in the pros are busy as well.
Kawhi Leonard played in two games over the past week, helping the Los Angeles Clippers beat both Portland and Toronto at home in the Staples Center. Over the two games, Leonard averaged 19.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block over 34.0 minutes. Leonard started out with a double-double against the Trail Blazers, scoring 27 points with 13 rebounds with 18 of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Against his former team, the Raptors, Leonard finished an assist shy of a triple-double, with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists in a 98-88 victory.
The other former Aztec in the NBA, Jalen McDaniels, was called up by the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
Damontae Kazee led the NFL former Aztecs in Week 10, finishing with five tackles (two solo) and a pass defense while playing in 62 snaps on defense and eight on special teams in Atlanta's 26-9 upset win over New Orleans. He also had an eye-popping hit that was hard enough to knock off the helmet of receiver Tre'Quan Smith. Atlanta travels to Carolina to play the Panthers on Sunday.
Nick Bawden caught his lone target from Jeff Driskel for three yards on Sunday. Bawden appeared in 11 offensive snaps and 22 special teams snaps for Detroit against Chicago. The Lions take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.
After starting and playing all offensive snaps in four straight wins for San Francisco, Daniel Brunskill was on the field for five special teams snaps on Monday night in the 49ers' first loss of the season to Seattle. San Francisco will try to get back in the win column against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Aaron Brewer played in nine snaps on special teams for Arizona in Tampa Bay in Week 10. The Cardinals will play the 49ers in Week 11.
Kameron Kelly saw the field in 18 snaps on special teams in Pittsburgh's 17-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Steelers travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns on Thursday Night Football.
Rashaad Penny appeared in three snaps on offense for Seattle on Monday Night Football in their back-and-forth overtime win over San Francisco. Penny had two carries and ran for two yards (1.0 avg), losing a fumble. After their Week 11 bye, Seattle will play the Eagles in Philadelphia.
Calvin Munson is on New England's practice squad and Kahale Warring is on injured reserve for Houston.
