SAN DIEGOBill Zack, San Diego State rowing head coach, announced the hiring of Alyssa Lamb as the program's newest assistant coach. Lamb brings a plethora of skills to The Mesa as a former NCAA Division I student-athlete, Team USA rower and high school assistant rowing coach.

"We are thrilled to add Alyssa to the coaching staff," said Zack. "The knowledge she has from being a highly decorated student-athlete in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) is exactly what we need for our team as we continue to challenge for a conference championship."

"I am incredibly excited to continue coaching the sport I am most passionate about, especially at the Division I level," noted Lamb. "I am eager to get out on the water with such a great group of women and look forward to learning from and working with the other coaches and staff as I start my first year as an Aztec."

The Carrollton, Texas native was a four-year standout at Southern Methodist University, acting as the Mustangs' team captain from 2016-2018 and spending her entire career as part of SMU's First Varsity Eight boat. In her final year on the water with SMU, Lamb was not only named team MVP but earned recognition from the AAC for her senior-year efforts as she was selected First Team All-Conference.  Additionally, Lamb spent the summer of 2018 in Shanghai, China, alongside current SDSU junior rower Hannah Broadland, competing as a member of the United States crew that placed third at the World University Championships.

After graduation, Lamb spent a year coaching at The Episcopal School of Dallas, creating and implementing workouts and technique practices for all athletes while collaborating with the program's head coach regarding race and practice line ups. Her responsibilities also included running the school's summer camp program.
