SAN DIEGO - Four Aztecs scored in double figures and the San Diego State men's basketball team shot 55 percent for the game en route to an 86-51 exhibition game victory over the UC San Diego Tritons on Wednesday evening at Viejas Arena.
 
Forwards Matt Mitchell and Keshad Johnson led the team with 12 points each.  Mitchell, a junior, was 5-for-8 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from the three-point line and added three rebounds, an assist and a steal.  Johnson, a freshman out of Oakland, finished with a 3-for-5 night from the floor, was 2-of-3 from distance, had two rebounds and an assist.
 
Joel Mensah hit 5-of-6 shots, finished with 11 points, grabbed five rebounds and had a steal.  Nathan Mensah pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and scored 10 points.
 
San Diego State took the lead with a Yanni Wetzell three-point play 1:07 into the game and never looked back.  They led by 25 points at the half, 49-24, and as many as 37 points in the last two minutes of the second half before taking the 35-point win.
 
In addition to hitting 55 percent from the floor (33-for-60), San Diego State was 8-for-18 from beyond the arc (44.4 percent) and knocked down 12-of-17 free throws (70.6 percent).
 
UC San Diego was held to just 28.8 percent shooting (19-for-66) including 22.5 percent from beyond the arc (9-for-40).  They were led by 20 points from Christian Oshita, who hit a game-high six three pointers.
 
With the victory, San Diego State had won its last 27 exhibition games and now prepares for its regular season opener against Texas Southern on Tuesday, Nov. 5.   Tipoff on Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
