SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State baseball team will host its annual Halloween Game on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The yearly tradition featuring Aztec student-athletes in costume for a fall scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Admission is free and gates to Tony Gwynn Stadium open at 12:30 p.m. Once again, SDSU has partnered with the Down Syndrome Association, Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome (DADS), and Best Buddies for the festivities, which commence with the Challenger Game at 2 p.m. to be followed by the Aztecs' intrasquad scrimmage with the student-athletes and coaches in full Halloween costumes.
DSA (Down Syndrome Association), is the lead organization on Down syndrome in San Diego County, serving more than 1,000 families and professionals. Throughout the years, DSA has established numerous community partners who support and augment services for families and enrich the lives of people with Down syndrome. DSA is actively engaged in key local, state and national initiatives, influencing policy and practices that impact health care, education and social service programs.'
Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome, or DADS, is a committee or community group (within a local Down Syndrome support organization) of fathers of children who happen to have Down syndrome.
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
San Diego State is currently in the midst of its fall practice season in preparation for the 2020 campaign, which begins on Feb. 14 vs. Virginia Tech at the Coastal Carolina Tournament in Conway, South Carolina. The Aztecs are seeking their sixth Mountain West championship in the last eight years.
