SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State men's soccer team returns to Pac-12 play this weekend with a pair of games at the SDSU Sports Deck. The Aztecs host the Oregon State Beavers and the No. 1 ranked Washington Huskies on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
The Aztecs (3-8-1, 0-5-0 Pac-12) hosted the No. 21 Marshall Thundering Herd last Friday night. The teams played to a draw in the first half and went to intermission tied 1-1, but in the second half Marshall took control, scored four times and earned a 5-1 victory. Miles Stray had the SDSU goal. It came in the 31st minute and was assisted by Pablo Pelaez.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
Oregon State
The Beavers enter the weekend with a 5-5-1 record, 2-2-1 in Pac-12 play. On the road Oregon State is 0-3-1 and have been outscored 6-3. In its prior meeting with SDSU, on Sept. 22, OSU earned a 2-1 decision. The offense is led by Joel Walker's five goals and one assist for 11 points. Adrian Crespo is the top point-getter with 13 (3G, 7A). Adrian Fernandez has played every minute in goal for the Beavers. He has a 1.25 GAA, a .696 save percentage and two shutouts.
Washington
The Huskies enter the weekend with a 12-1-0 record, 5-0-0 in Pac-12 play and ranked No. 1 in the nation. UW plays at UCLA on Thursday before heading to San Diego for their Sunday showdown with the Aztecs. On the road Washington is 5-1-0, its lone loss coming at CSUN and have outscored opponents 9-4 away from home. In its prior meeting with SDSU, on Sept. 19, Washington earned a 2-0 decision. The offense is led by Blake Bodily's five goals and five assists for 15 points. The Huskies have used three keepers this season with Sam Fowler topping the threesome with a 0.14 GAA, a .917 save percentage and five shutouts.
Kickoffs for the Oregon State and Washington games are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
