Aztecs Win at Idaho 76-71

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Aztec swim team knocked off Idaho 76-71 Saturday morning in a dual meet in Moscow, Idaho.

SDSU had the top time in seven of the eight events and all six of the individual events, which were won by six different Aztecs.

SDSU began the meet with a narrow win in the 200-yard medley. Elli Ferrin, Sammy Geyer, Klara Thormalm and Lizzie Menzmer finished in 1:46.31, 0.32 seconds ahead of the Vandals' top squad.

Aztec first place finishers included Marisa Karpisz (500 free, 5:09.44, Klara Thormalm (50 back, 25.87), Sammy Geyer (50 breast, 29.41), Mia Ryan (50 fly, 26.19), Alma Thormalm (100 IM, 58.97) and McKenna Meyer (300 IM, 3:19.20).

SDSU closed out the meet with a second place in the 200-yard free relay. Geyer, Cathy Cooper, Ryan and Emily Gebhardt finished in 1:38.39, 0.23 seconds behind Idaho. Alma Thormalm, Peyton Wilson, Christy Neufeld and Evonne Stehr had a time of 1:38.23 but were exhibitioned.
