Last Time Out
The Aztecs went 0-2-0 on the road last week against No. 12 Washington and Oregon State. Last Thursday in Seattle, the Huskies got on the board in the sixth minute and then added another goal early in the second half on their way to a 2-0 victory. On Sunday, SDSU suffered a tough 2-1 loss. The Aztecs struck first with a goal in the closing seconds of the first half, but things went sour quickly in the opening minutes of the second frame. The Beavers tied the match on a PK in the 48th minute and then Aztec defender Miles Stray was whistled for his second yellow card of the match, forcing the Aztecs to play the rest of the match with 10 men. The Beavers immediately capitalized and scored on the ensuing free kick in the 50th minute.

Aztec Storylines
•    The Aztecs head across the country to play at Brown (1-4-1) 11 a.m. Sunday morning. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. SDSU beat Brown 2-0 at home last year, totaling 18 shots to the Bears' three.
•      This will be SDSU's first game in the Eastern time zone since their 2017 season opener at Army West Point.
•      Thursday's 2-0 loss at No. 12 Washington was the first time the Aztecs have been shutout this season.
•      SDSU is averaging 14.3 shots per game, 40th in the nation.
•      Pablo Pelaez leads the Pac-12 and is eighth in the nation with 4.29 shots per game. He also averages a conference-best 1.7 shots on goal per game.
•      In a statistical oddity, SDSU is 2-1-1 when their opponent scores first and 0-3-0 when they score first.
•      The Aztecs are in the midst of five consecutive road matches. So far they are 0-2-1 with remaining matches at Brown (Sept. 29) and at UCLA (Oct. 6). SDSU then plays five consecutive home games and seven of their final nine matches on the Sports Deck.
•      The Pac-12 is 21-9-2 in non-conference play, the second-best mark across all conferences, trailing only the ACC (41-9-8, .780). Stanford is currently ranked No. 1 in the country and Washington is No. 10.
•      Pablo Pelaez was named to the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team. The redshirt senior led the Aztecs in points (15) and goals (six) last season and tied for the team lead with three assists.
•      The Aztecs return eight starters from a season ago.
•      SDSU has 11 seniors on their roster after only having four in 2018.
•      The Aztecs have the No. 10 2019 recruiting class in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer. SDSU has nine newcomers (eight freshmen and one transfer).
•      Former Aztec goalkeeper Tally Hall (2003-06) will be inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame in October. A two-time All-American, Hall led the nation with an 88.9 save percentage and ranked second with a 0.49 goals allowed average in 2005. He also recorded 12 shutouts that season; all are single-season school records. After SDSU, he enjoyed a 10-year professional career, including eight seasons with the Houston Dynamo of MLS and was named a 2011 MLS All-Star.

Opponent Notebook
Brown
The Bears are 1-4-1 on the year and are winless in their last four matches… They went 8-8-1 last season, including a 2-0 loss at SDSU… Brown has five players tied for the team-lead with two points… Daniel Schiller has a team-high 12 shots, but has yet to score… They have had three players start in goal… Max Gross got the start in their last game and allowed one goal and collected three saves on 22 shots against crosstown foe Providence… Head Coach Patrick Laughlin is in his 10th year at Brown and has won 10 games or more four times… This will be the third all-time meeting between SDSU and Brown. The Aztecs have won both times (2001 & 2018).
