Aztecs Drop Friendly 3-1 at UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – The Aztec men's soccer team fell at UC Irvine 3-1 Monday evening in an exhibition match. SDSU will have one more tune-up, an August 24th friendly against UC San Diego, before kicking off their regular season against San Diego on August 30th.

The Aztecs' lone goal came from freshman Hunter George (Lincoln, Calif.) in the 35th minute, which tied the match at one goal apiece.

UC Irvine held an 19-6 advantage in shots, including an 11-1 edge in the opening half. The Anteaters finished the match with 10 shots on goal to the Aztecs' three.

After George tied the match late in the first half, the Anteaters responded three minutes later to retake the lead. They would add an insurance goal in the 81st minute.

Redshirt sophomore Harrison Skinner played all 90 minutes in goal for the Aztecs and collected seven saves.

Newcomers Tristan Weber, a transfer from Portland, and freshman Hunter George led SDSU with two shots each.
