SAN DIEGO -- The Aztec Club will host a football kickoff event at Saturday's Fan Fest. The event, running from 4-5 p.m., will precede the Aztec Fan Fest scrimmage, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

The event is open to all Aztec Club members for $30. Guests may also attend with the Aztec Club members for $30 apiece.

Doors to the event open at 3:30 p.m. at Gate C and will be held at Club Lounge 12. The program will run from 4 p.m.-5 p.m., highlighted by a "chalk talk" and a program update from head coach Rocky Long, and stadium updates from director of athletics John David Wicker and executive associate athletic director for Mission Valley development Derek Grice.

During the program, Wicker and Grice will review the latest design development renderings.

A buffet and one complimentary drink (beer or wine) is included with each ticket.

Tickets can be purchased here in advance or on Saturday at the Aztec Ticket Office (SDCCU Stadium's Window E), beginning at 3 p.m.

The VIP gate for the event will close at 4:30 p.m., when the public gates open, and parking is free.

For more information on the event, contact special events coordinator Juliana Spina at jspina@sdsu.edu.

Following the event in Club Lounge 12, the Aztecs begin warming up on the field at 5 p.m. and then scrimmage at 5:30 p.m. After the scrimmage, the team's seniors will be available for autographs (one item only) on the field.

The Aztecs finished 2018 with a 7-6 record, including wins over No. 23/25 Arizona State and rv/No. 24 Boise State. SDSU is one of 14 teams to make a bowl game in nine consecutive seasons. San Diego State returns its leading passer (Ryan Agnew), rusher (Juwan Washington) and tackler (Kyahva Tezino) from a year ago.

SDSU's Mountain West home schedule features the two teams that finished atop the West Division standings last year (Fresno State and Nevada), and two cross-division opponents with the best league record (Utah State) and the third-best mark on the Mountain Division (Wyoming). Overall, San Diego State's four Mountain West home games come against teams that went a combined 23-9 in league competition, while its four conference road contests are against teams that went 10-22 in league play.

The Aztecs kick off their 2019 season at home on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Weber State at 6 p.m., followed by the KGB SkyShow.
