Former Aztecs Wrap Up Competition at US Track & Field Championships

SAN DIEGO – Six former Aztecs competed at the US Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend.

Whitney Ashley ('12) had the highest finish among former SDSU student-athletes with a fourth-place finish in the discus throw. Her best toss was 201-10 (61.52m).

Three former Aztecs competed in the pole vault with Kristen Brown ('15) having the best finish. She cleared 14-11.00, a new season best, to tie for sixth place. Recent graduate Bonnie Draxler ('19) tied for ninth after clearing 14-05.25. Kortney Ross ('15) also competed but failed to clear the opening height of 14-05.25.

Ashley Henderson ('18) ran the 100 and 200-meter dashes and qualified for the semifinals in both but just missed the cut to make the final round. Henderson ran the 100m in 11.46 (-1.4) in the opening round, the 10th best time. In the semis, she finished in 11.36 (-2.4), good for fifth in her heat and ninth overall. In the 200, she ran the first round in 23.00, the fourth best time overall and then finished 10th in the semis with a mark of 23.06. Eight advanced to the final race.

Allison (Reaser) Halverson ('14) finished the heptathlon with 5,796 points and finished in 13th place. She had top five finishes in the 800m run (3rd; 2:13.01) and in the 200m dash (4th; 24.22).
