COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sixty-eight San Diego State student-athletes earned Mountain West All-Academic status for the spring semester, the conference office announced today.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Swimming and diving's 21 honorees broke a three-year run by track and field as the program with the most honors. Track and field had 15 all-academic student-athletes. Women's tennis garnered seven honorees, while both men's tennis and softball had six student-athletes recognized. Other teams recognized include women's golf (5), women's basketball (3), men's golf (2), men's basketball (2) and baseball (1).
This marks the ninth straight year in which SDSU has had at least 50 Aztecs honored in the spring by the Mountain West. In the previous 11 years prior to the current stretch, SDSU hit the 50-mark only once when it had 52 award winners in the spring of 2008.
