PRINCETON, N.J.  San Diego State rising junior rower Julia Camillucci has been invited to participate at the 2019 USRowing Under 23 Women's Olympic Development Program Camp this August, the organization announced this week. Camillucci is one of 15 collegiate female rowers selected to train at this summer's camp.

The camp, which is scheduled for August 13-17, will offer opportunities for athletes with national team aspirations to train in a variety of boat classes with amplified instruction and a strong developmental focus with the intent to accelerate their rowing advancement towards the U23 and senior team levels. The women's ODP camp will be held in Iowa City, Iowa, and will be run by University of Iowa women's rowing head coach, Andrew Carter.

The Auburn, Calif., native competed in every team event throughout the 2018-19 season, mostly as a member of the second varsity eight crew but also logged official race time in the V8 and 3V8 boats. A few of Camillucci's notable finishes from the 2019 season include a win in the 2V8 against Sacramento State at the Hornet Invitational, a 2V8 win over UCSD, and a gold-medal finish in the 2V8 at last month's WIRA Championships.

Camillucci and the rest of the San Diego State rowing team recently completed their season at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla., where the Aztecs finished fifth as a team amongst the conference. Camillucci earned a fifth-place finish competing as the five seat in the varsity eight event at the Championship.
