SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced Thursday the signing of Cécile Morin to a National Letter of Intent. The incoming freshman is set to join the team in the fall of 2019.

"We are very excited to welcome Cécile to the Aztec Tennis family," head coach Peter Mattera said. "She has an exceptional tennis resume, is an excellent student and will have a very positive and immediate impact on our team, which returns six letter winners from this year's 15-10 team."

Morin joins the program after graduating from Georges Duby High School in Luynes, France, this July. A native of Bouc Bel Air, France, Morin is one of the top junior tennis players in her home country, where she has a -4/6 ranking.

Morin joins an Aztec women's tennis program that finished as the runner-up in the 2019 Mountain West Conference Championship. The Aztecs had three student-athletes named to the all-conference squad, including Freshman of the Year selection Shakhnoza Khatamova, who was just the second Aztec to earn the distinction. The program has seen years of success on the court and in the classroom, boasting 11 conference championship seasons, 80 academic all-MW conference awards and three Academic All-Americans during Mattera's time as head coach.
