Softball’s Molly Sturdivant Named NFCA All-West Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- San Diego State softball senior catcher Molly Sturdivant has been named NFCA All-West Region, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday. Sturdivant, a second-team all-region selection in 2017, made the third team this season.
 
Sturdivant batted .306 (44-for-144) on the year with four home runs, 23 RBIs, 17 runs, 11 doubles and 12 walks, while owning a .465 slugging percentage and a .384 on-base percentage. Sturdivant, who leads the Mountain West with 10 runners caught stealing, finished her final campaign tied for the team lead in homers and doubles, and ranked second in slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
 
For her career, Sturdivant hit .303 (180-for-576) with 23 home runs, 126 RBIs, 74 runs, 36 doubles, 69 walks, 12 times hit by pitch, a .498 slugging percentage and a .391 on-base percentage. She finished her career with a school-record 11 sacrifice flies, and ranked fifth in home runs and RBIs, tied for fifth in doubles and times hit by pitch, sixth in extra-base hits (60), tied for sixth in walks, eighth in slugging percentage, and ninth in OPS percentage and total bases (287).
 
The Aztecs, who recently announced the addition of Oregon standout Maggie Balint to the roster for the 2020 season, will return all four of their all-Mountain West selections from this year, their top-two hitters, eight of their top-10 batters and their entire pitching staff.
