Softball Heads to 25th-Ranked Colorado State

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State looks to continue its winning ways this weekend with a road series at No. 25/-- Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Aztecs (20-22, 7-8 MW), who have won back-to-back Mountain West series, and the Rams (34-7, 15-3 MW), who lead the league standings by 4 1/2 games and are ranked 25th in the latest USA Today/NFCA poll, are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. MT Friday, 1 p.m. MT Saturday and noon MT Sunday.

SDSU is coming off a 2-1 victory over California Baptist on Tuesday night and a 2-1 series win over the current MW second-place team San José State.

Taylor Adams continues to pace the San Diego State offense, leading the team in average (.358), hits (44), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.504). Shelby Thompson (.315, 2 HR, 16 RBI, 7 2B, 15 BB, .394 OB%) and Kelsey Munoz (.298, 3 HR, 21 RBI, 9 2B) are also hitting over .290 for the Aztecs, while Kiera Wright (.270) leads the team in runs (25) and stolen bases (19-for-19).

Despite missing eight games before league play with an injury, Marissa Moreno leads the SDSU pitching staff in most categories, including ERA (3.33), wins (9), appearances (29), complete games (6), shutouts (3), saves (2), innings pitched (117.2), strikeouts (94) and opponents' average (.237). Alicia Garcia (8-6, 4.02 ERA, 76.2 IP) and MJ James (3-7, 5.07 ERA, 88.1 IP) have also logged important innings in the circle for San Diego State.
