LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Aztec track and field team competed in the Beach Invitational Saturday. Nyjari McNeil highlighted the day for the Aztecs by taking first in the 800 meter run.

McNeil bested 91 competitors in the 800. Her time of 2:06.58 beat her previous best of 2:07.20 to reset her SDSU freshman record. She also moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 all-time at SDSU.

McNeil, along with Sakura Roberson, Lisa-Anne Barrow and Jalyn Harris, won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:42.40, finishing over two seconds ahead of their closest competition (Utah, 3:45.09)

Bonnie Draxler came in second in the pole vault, finishing behind Washington's Olivia Gruver, who holds the top mark of the nation. Gruver cleared 15-03.50 and Draxler vaulted 14-05.50. A trio of SDSU vaulters, Kaitlin Heri, Alysia Allen and Marissa Berry tied for 10th with a mark of 12-10.00.

Callista Fletcher continued her breakout sophomore year by taking third in the 100 meter dash. She ran a wind-aided 11.49, which would have cracked the SDSU top ten if not for the 2.6 meters/second wind reading.

Fletcher also had a strong showing in the 200 meter dash with a personal best time of 23.61, good for firth place. Danae Dyer was right behind her with a wind-aided 23.62. Both finished ahead of former Aztec All-American Ashley Henderson, who came in seventh 23.62. Lisa-Anne Barrow also ran and came in 11th, finishing in 23.84.

Dyer also came in fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.49, the best time of her young college career. Dyer ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay, helping the Aztecs take third place with a time of 45.81. Callista Fletcher, Lisa-Anne Barrow, Jalyn Harris and Dyer earned a third place finish, coming in just 0.31 seconds behind first place Wyoming.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Maya Brosch came in seventh, clocking in 1:00.97. Nia Collins placed 11th (1:02.20) and Quinn Wiley came in 44th (1:07.17).
