SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head coach Brian Dutcher announced today that KJ Feagin (FAY-gen) has signed an institutional Grant-In-Aid to attend the University and join the men's basketball program. Feagin, a 6-1 guard who is a graduate of Santa Clara University, has one year of eligibility remaining and is available to play immediately.

Despite playing in only two games last season after suffering a broken bone in his left hand against UC Irvine (Nov. 15, 2018), Feagin has amassed 1,182 points, 328 assists, 221 rebounds, 152 three-point field goals and 66 steals in 83 career games and 81 starts with the Broncos.

"KJ brings a wealth of experience and leadership that will benefit the Aztecs immediately," Dutcher said. "He has the rare combination to score and distribute the ball at a very high level and I love his desire to compete. He also brings a winning mentality."

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Feagin is a two-time all-West Coast Conference selection who earned first-team honors following his last full season of competition (2017-18) during which he averaged 17.5 points and 4.0 assists. That year, he led the Broncos in scoring, assists, three-point field goals (61), free throw percentage (86.8 percent) and three-point percentage (37.2). He started the final 51 games in which he played at Santa Clara.

"I felt like this is an opportunity I could not pass up," Feagin said. "This is an opportunity to play close to home paired with a great basketball program and a tremendous University. I like the way the coaching staff genuinely listens and communicates with the players and the relationships that exist. I look forward to joining the SDSU family."

Feagin, who has career averages of 14.2 points, 4.0 assists and an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.72, is one of only four players in the West Coast Conference to average at least 14.0 points in a minimum of 80 career games since the start of the 2015-16 campaign (the others: Brigham Young's Yoeli Childs and TJ Haws, and Saint Mary's Jock Landale). A gifted scorer, he has 18 games with at least 20 points scored and 33 games with at least five assists. His career-high point total of 32 points came against San Diego on Feb. 10, 2018.

Feagin, who earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Santa Clara, will join newcomers junior Malachi Flynn, a transfer from Washington State, redshirt sophomore Caleb Giordano and true freshman Keshad Johnson to next season's roster.

The Aztecs return six of their top nine scorers off a team that posted a 21-13 record and advanced to the championship game of the Mountain West Conference tournament in 2019. San Diego State is one of just nine schools nationally to win at least 19 games each of the last 14 seasons and is one of 29 schools to play in seven of the last 10 NCAA tournaments.

The renewal period for season tickets is currently underway. Fans wishing to be added to the waitlist may do so now by contacting the SDSU ticket office at (619) 283-7378.
