Absten & Smith Halfway Through Heptathlon

AZUSA, Calif. – Freshman Sara Absten and sophomore Asia Smith finished four events of the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational Wednesday afternoon. With three events to go, Smith is in sixth place in group four and Absten sits in 16th in group three.

Smith had top three finishes in the high jump (5-05.75) and the shot put (42-01.25) and finished eighth in the 100m hurdles (14.15w).

Absten had a personal best mark of 5-04.50 in the high jump, good for a fifth-place finish in her group. She also finished eighth in the 200 meter dash with a wind-aided time of 25.46.

The duo will finish their final three heptathlon events tomorrow beginning with the long jump. Absten starts at 10:00 am and Smith begins at 11:00 a.m.
