Busy Week Ahead for Aztecs
The Aztecs will be competing in two separate meets in the Los Angeles area this week. First is the Bryan Clay Invitational where Sara Absten and Asia Smith will get things started by competing in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. They will compete in four events Wednesday before finishing their final three events Thursday. Eight Aztecs will also be competing Thursday in the Bryan Clay Invite. Callista Fletcher, Tai McDonald, Jalyn Harris, Asia Smith and Danae Dyer will be competing in both meets.
On Friday and Saturday, the rest of the Aztecs will be competing in the Beach Invitational which features D-I schools such as Washington, Iowa, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Wyoming and Long Beach State among others.

Freshman Erica Grotegeer Enters SDSU Top Ten in Discus Throw
Erica Grotegeer highlighted the Triton Invitational for the Aztecs with a fifth-place finish in the discus throw. Her throw of 170' 8" was the seventh-best mark in school history. This is the second straight week an Aztec freshman thrower has cracked the SDSU top ten. Jordan Bryant set the freshman record in the shot put with the fifth best throw in school history last week.
Aztecs Pole Vault, Discus & 400m Squads Rank Top Ten in the Nation
The Aztecs are top ten in three events in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, which take the average of a team's top four competitors. They are No. 3 in the pole vault with an average of 4.16m with Bonnie Draxler having the No. 2 height in the nation. They are also and No. 6 in the 400m with an average time of 54.48 and No. 10 in the discus throw (46.95m average).
