Aztecs Compete at Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. -The Aztec track and field team competed at the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego over the weekend. Erica Grotegeer highlighted the meet for the Aztecs with a fifth place finish in the discus throw. Her throw of 170' 8" was the seventh-best mark in school history. Grotegeer also earned a third place finish in the shot put (44-04.00).

The majority of the Aztecs took the weekend off in preparation for the Mountain West championships. Maya Brosch and Nia Collins both had top ten finishes in the 400m hurdles. Brosch came in seventh with a time of 1:01.04 and Collins clocked in at 1:01.87, good for ninth place.

Nyjari McNeil ran the 1500m for the first time in her collegiate career and finished in 19th place with a time of 4:43.35.

The Aztecs will be competing in three different meets next weekend: the Bryan Clay Invitational, the Beach Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays.
