Aztecs Back in San Diego for Triton Invitational
The Aztecs will be competing in the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego this weekend. After a season-high 29 athletes competed at the Mountain West Challenge, only 14 will be in action this weekend with many of SDSU's top competitors taking a week off to rest.

The meet gets started Friday with the hammer throw and discus invitational. Cari Acosta will be competing in the hammer throw and will be joined in the discus by Jordyn Bryant and Erica Grotegeer.
On Saturday, the first Aztec race is at 11:30 a.m. for the 1,500m run where Nyjari McNeil and Renee Phillips will be competing. The last race SDSU will be competing in is the 3,000m steeplechase at 5:50 p.m. with Caitlyn Couch, Natalie Regalado and Naomi Smitham running.
 
Jordyn Bryant Sets SDSU Freshman Record for Outdoor Shot Put
Jordyn Bryant set a SDSU freshman record in the shot put last Friday at the Mountain West Challenge. Bryant had a throw of 49' 9.25" (15.17m) to top Jasmine Burrell's record of 49' 6.25" set in 2012. Her toss also vaulted her into the top ten all-time at SDSU (tied for 5th). Bryant also finished second in the discus throw (139' 5") and sixth in the javelin (98' 6").

The Aztecs have now set seven class records in 2019. Nyjari McNeil has already broke three freshman record (400 indoor, 800 indoor and outdoor), Bonnie Draxler has set school records in both outdoor and indoor pole vault which are now senior records, Marissa D'Atri set the freshman record for the 3,000m steeple chase, Jalyn Harris set a new indoor record for the 400 and now Jordyn Bryant has set a new freshman record for outdoor shot put.
 
Aztecs Pole Vault & 400m Squads Rank Top Ten in the Nation
The Aztecs are top ten in two events in the USTFCCCA Event Squad rankings, which take the average of a team's top four competitors. They are No. 3 in the pole vault with an average of 4.16m with Bonnie Draxler having the No. 2 height in the nation. They are also and No. 6 in the 400m with an average time of 54.48. Freshman Nyjari McNeil leads the way with a time of 53.81, 13th best in the West region.
