Aztecs Finish Strong to Beat No. 12 LMU 9-7

LOS ANGELES – The Aztec water polo team earned a big victory with a 9-7 win at Loyola Marymount Friday afternoon. SDSU finished the game on a 5-1 run to secure their first GCC road win of the year.

Emily Bennett once again led the Aztecs with three goals and an assist. Sydney Hurst had two goals and Hannah Carrillo had a goal and an assist.
SDSU jumped out to a 3-1 lead with goals in the first quarter from Karli Canale, Bennett and Hurst. The teams then traded goals before the Lions scored four unanswered to take a 6-4 lead.

In the final 12 minutes, the Aztecs scored five of the six goals. Bennett scored two in the third quarter and then Hurst, Haley Hagerty and Shelby Kraft put the game on ice.

THE NOTE
This was just the Aztecs second road game of the season (1-1).
