SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis continues its seven-match homestand this week when it hosts Yale on Tuesday, March 19, and Colorado State on Thursday, March 21. Both matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Yale, currently 5-7 on the season, travels to the Mesa as part of its spring break trip in America's Finest City. The Bulldogs began the trip at USD on Saturday, March 16, when the Toreros edged Yale, 4-3, handing the Ivy League squad its third straight loss and fifth loss in six matches. Yale is also set to play Colorado State in a neutral-site dual in San Diego on Wednesday, March 20, before returning home to New Haven, Conn.
Colorado State travels to San Diego this week to play both Yale and the Aztecs, entering their Wednesday matchup against the Bulldogs at 7-5, 0-1 MW on the season. The Rams have lost their last two dual matches to UNC Greensboro (4-3) and Colorado (4-1), and the team's sole conference loss came at UNLV in mid-February, when CSU dropped a 4-3 decision to the Rebels.
The Aztecs, sitting at 8-7, host Yale for the first time in two years after falling 4-3 to the Bulldogs in March of 2017. Meanwhile, the Scarlet and Black have not faced Colorado State since 2013, when the Aztecs topped the Rams twice, first during regular-season competition (6-0) and again in the MW conference tournament (4-0).
Thursday's match will be the first of the Aztecs' five regular-season conference matches this year. Last week, the Aztecs split their two home contests, first shutting out Quinnipiac, 4-0, on Wednesday, before getting blanked by Houston, 4-0, on Friday afternoon.
Admission is free at all SDSU women's tennis matches at the Aztec Tennis Center. Results from Tuesday and Thursday's matches will be available on GoAztecs.com once play concludes each day.
