COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three members of the Aztec cross country team were named to the Fall 2018 Academic all-Mountain West Team, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Freshmen Carlene Masar, Natalie Medina and Natalie Regalado were all honored by the conference for their performance in the classroom during the Fall 2018 semester.
Carlene Masar (Jamul, Calif.), an environmental engineering major, had a perfect 4.0 GPA in her first collegiate semester. She was the top Aztec finisher (22:30.0) at the Capital Cross Challenge 6k and finished second among SDSU runner in her other two races. She missed the final three races due to injury.
Natalie Regalado (Lake Forest, Calif.) had a stellar 3.93 GPA as a public health major. She competed in all six of the Aztecs' competitions in the fall.
Natalie Medina (Spring Valley, Calif.) finished the 2018 fall semester with a 3.13 GPA, majoring in kinesiology pre-physical therapy. Medina competing in five races for the Aztecs in the fall.
To be eligible for 2018 Fall Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
