San Diego State Set to Co-Host 10-Team, 24-Game San Diego Classic
Following what will be a season-long six-game stretch away from San Diego, the San Diego State softball team returns home this weekend to co-host the four-day, 10-team, 24-game San Diego Classic.

The tournament will feature the Aztecs and co-host San Diego, along with Boise State, Brigham Young, Florida Gulf Coast, Long Beach State, San José State, Weber State, UC Davis and UIC.

SDSU is slated to meet Brigham Young at 5 p.m. PT Thursday, UIC at 7 p.m. PT Friday, Weber State at 7 p.m. PT Saturday and UC Davis at 2 p.m. PT Sunday.

San Diego State enters the San Diego Classic with an 8-7 record, most recently falling at Loyola Marymount, 2-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Aztecs have four players hitting .300 or above for the season (min. 10 plate appearances), including Kiera Wright (.333, 12 R, 6-6 SB), Kelsey Munoz (.326, 2 HR, 10 RBI), Katie Byrd (.316, 9 R) and Molly Sturdivant (.300, 4 RBI, 4 2B).

Marissa Moreno has logged the majority of the innings in the circle for SDSU, going 5-3 with a save, a 3.81 ERA, two shutouts, three complete games and 48 strikeouts, while pitching in 14 of the team's 15 games. Moreno leads the Mountain West in strikeouts (48), innings pitched (53.1) and appearances (14), while ranking in a tie for second in victories (5) and saves (1). 

San Diego State's games this weekend against Brigham Young at 5 p.m. PT Thursday, UIC at 7 p.m. PT Friday and UC Davis at 2 p.m. PT Sunday will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network (https://goaztecs.com/watch/).
