Softball Heads to CSF; Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic

San Diego State Heads to Cal State Fullerton; Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic
Fresh off winning the Campbell/Cartier Classic for a fourth time, San Diego State begins a tough stretch of seven games away from America's Finest City in a seven-day span Wednesday night at Cal State Fullerton. The Aztecs (6-3) and Titans (7-3) are scheduled to play at 6 p.m. PT at Anderson Family Field.

Following the game with CSF, SDSU travels to Cathedral City, Calif., in the Palm Springs area for the always competitive Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. San Diego State plays Army West Point at 6 p.m. PT Thursday, No. 16/20 Oklahoma State (10 a.m. PT) and (rv/rv) Nebraska (12:30 p.m. PT) on Friday, No. 25/23 Texas Tech at 8 p.m. PT Saturday, and Cal Poly at 11:30 a.m. PT Sunday. Including Cal State Fullerton, the five opponents at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic and the Aztecs' game at Loyola Marymount next Tuesday (Feb. 26), SDSU's next seven opponents are a combined 43-21 (.672).

San Diego State is off to an impressive 6-3 start with four one-run victories, three walk-off wins and two victories when trailing going into the final inning.

The Aztecs have four players hitting over .300 for the season (min. 9 plate appearances), including Kiera Wright (.400, 7 R, 4 SB), Molly Sturdivant (.348), Kelsey Munoz (.333, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 4 R) and Alicia Garcia (.316, 1 HR, 3 RBI).

MJ James (2-0, 3.98 ERA, 19.1 IP) and Marissa Moreno (3-1, 1 SV, 4.10 ERA, 29.0 IP) have done the bulk of the pitching for SDSU, while Garcia (1-2, 7.30 ERA, 7.2 IP) has also logged innings in the circle.
