FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Devin Watson had 21 points as San Diego State beat Colorado State 71-60 on Tuesday night. The victory was the fifth in the last six outings for the Aztecs.
Watson shot 5 for 7 on 3-pointers for SDSU, who defeated the Rams for a third consecutive time.
Jalen McDaniels had 18 points and 12 rebounds for San Diego State (15-9, 7-4 Mountain West Conference). Jeremy Hemsley added 12 points.
Nico Carvacho had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams (9-16, 4-8). J.D. Paige added 16 points. Adam Thistlewood had 11 points.
The Aztecs win their third straight game against Colorado State and are 21-6 in its last 27 games against the Rams. San Diego State is 10-4 in its last 14 visits to Moby Arena. The Aztecs 10 wins are the most by a visiting team in the venue since Feb. 4, 2006. Since that date, SDSU is 10-4 in Moby Arena, while the rest of the teams are a combined 62-137.
With the victory, the Aztecs pull within one game of second place in the Mountain West (currently shared by Utah State and Fresno State).
The Aztecs improve to 7-4 in Mountain West Conference play and is now three games above .500 in league play for the first time since finishing the 2015-16 league campaign with a 16-2 record.
Jalen McDaniels reached double figures for a 13th straight game (career-high). His 18 points and 12 rebounds give him seven double-doubles in his last 10 games and 18 for his career.
Devin Watson scored a game-high 21 points, including 11 straight for the Aztecs in the second half. It was the 10th 20-point scoring effort of the season and the 33rd of his career.
San Diego State plays Boise State at home on Saturday. Colorado State takes on San Jose State on the road next Wednesday.
