SAN DIEGO - In partnership with Team IMPACT, the San Diego State baseball team welcomes Derrick Peterson, a seven-year-old from Temecula, California, who was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome at age 2, as an official member of the SDSU baseball team. Derrick's Draft Day is scheduled for this Friday, which happens to also be his eighth birthday.

Derrick will attend practices, serve as bat boy during SDSU home games, and attend official team events throughout the year. 

Team IMPACT is a national non-profit organization that pairs children with chronic or serious illnesses with local college athletic teams with aspirations to form life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. The organization currently partners with over 500 athletic teams from 107 different conferences across NCAA Division I, II, and III.

The San Diego State baseball team opens its 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 15 at home against San Francisco.
