SAN DIEGO –  The San Diego State swimmers defeated San Diego 138-126 at Sports Center Pool on Friday afternoon. Mia Ryan and Klara Thormalm led the charge for the Aztecs by both recording a pair of first-place finishes. 

SDSU logged 13 top times out of a possible 14 events. The Aztecs began on a streak of five consecutive wins, beginning with Elli Ferrin, Klara Thormalm,  and Courtney Vincent collectively recording a first-place time of 1:46.09 in the 200 medley relay.

McKenna Meyer won the 1000 free by nearly a 15-second margin, clocking in at 10:27.28. Ryan then followed that with her first first-place finish of the day, touching the wall at 1:52.93 in the 200 free. 

Alma Thormalm, Maude Boily-Dufour, and Rachael Kelch finished first, second, and third respectively in the 100 back, posting times of 57.27, 59.50, and 1:00.16, respectively.

In the 100 breast, Sammy Geyer and Caitlin Delany finished first and second, respectively, with times of 1:06.81 and 1:07.31.

The Aztecs collected another trio of top-three times in the 50 free, with Klara Thormalm leading the way at 24.49. Cathy Cooper and Larisa Tam followed Thormalm with second and third place performances, logging neck-and-neck times of 24.74 and 24.77, respectively. 

Ryan won her second event of the day in the 100 free, posting a time of 53.61. Kelch grabbed the title in the 200 back, recording a time of 2:08.58.  Klara Thormalm led the way in the 200 breast, winning with a time of 2:20.48.

In exhibition action, Julia Wright posted the fastest 500 free time of the day at 5:10.12, just edging out teammate Kassidy Henson who touched the wall .14 seconds later.

Andy Felix and Ryan battled for the top spot in the 100 fly, with Felix clocking in at 58.30 while Ryan finished second at 58.99. In the final individual event of the day, Ferrin posted the meet's fastest 200 IM time at 2:08.33.

Anna Stahlak, Kassidy Henson, Ava Howard and Ryan earned the top spot in the 400 free relay to conclude the meet, registering a time of 3:35.62.

NOTES
- With one dual meet remaining for the 2018-19 season, the Aztecs are a perfect 12-0 in dual meets this season. Dating back to 2015-16, SDSU is 36-1 in dual meets. 
- The Aztecs improve to 23-0 against the Toreros over head coach Mike Shrader's 12 seasons at SDSU.

 LOS ANGELES –  The San Diego State divers finished 3-meter competition at the UCLA Diving Invitational on Thursday. Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez and Delaney Gallagher led the Aztecs, recording 10th and 18th place finishes, respectively, in the 60-diver competition. 

Both Lechuga Gonzalez and Gallagher represented the Aztecs in the finals after advancing through the preliminary round. Lechuga Gonzalez finished her round with a score of 561.50, while Gallagher posted a 514.20.

Lechuga Gonzalez registered a score of 293.00 in the preliminary round, the third highest among freshmen in the meet and eighth highest in the preliminary round. Gallagher's 17th-place score (251.15) in the preliminary round made SDSU one of four schools to have multiple divers in the top 17, joined by only UCLA, USC, and Stanford. 

Emily Reed logged a top-25 finish as well, logging a 234.65.

Lexi Letts and Marie Yacopino finished back-to-back on the leaderboard, recording scores of 227.90 and 227.50 to finish 27th and 28th, respectively. Gina Cazares also finished closely to Letts and Yacopino, placing 30th with a score of 225.20.

Erica Sarver and Gillian Garcia finished 44th and 45th, respectively, with tight-knit scores of 200.80 and 200.70.

The Aztecs continue the UCLA Diving Invitational tomorrow with platform board competition.
